Choosing New Survey from the File menu allows the user to start a new survey. It first erases any survey data currently in memory, sets the needed default values and text, then brings up the General Info Window. In the General Info Window, you can enter information (comments) related to the entire survey. You can also specify the distance units to be used for the survey. When you exit the General Info Screen, CavePlot then takes you to the Edit Window to allow survey data to be entered.
CavePlot will save a backup copy of the data in memory, prior to erasing it, if "New Backup" is selected on the Preferences Window.
